Bellville defeated Manor at the Bastrop Tournament on August 21, 2026 to give Brewer her 1,306th career win and she passed Barbara Comeaux for the most in Texas High School Volleyball history.

Bellville has been coached by 1 person all 50 years of its existence and now Susan Brewer is on top of the Texas high school volleyball all-time wins list. With a win over Manor in the Bastrop Tournament on August 21, 2026, she won match #1,306 and passed Barbara Comeaux for #1 all-time.
“That was never the goal. The goal was to build a program from the ground up. To do what Norma Pullin had done in East Bernard. Build a pipeline of volleyball players coming through the community. Having teams that could make the state tournament year after year and have the ability to win and for them to believe in themselves. That’s what it all started about. That was my vision. This is just kind of just happened but every year it’s just about this team.”
Thousands of players have played under her tutelage including current players like OH Kinleigh Dinges, setter Addison Hollomon and libero Summer Anderson.
“It’s super cool to be included in such an honor. Especially since it is under Coach Brewer’s name since we got to play for her. Me and Summer both being seniors and Kinleigh being a junior. It’s cool that we’ve worked so hard that we’ve worked for this and to achieve an amazing accomplishment with her,” said Hollomon.
“It’s cool to be a part of history. It’s really cool to be a part of something big and being a part of her legacy. My dad played for her so it’s cool to walk in his footsteps and be here,” said Anderson.
“It’s goes well with the Bellville legacy. It adds on to it more and more every year. It’s all the former [players] that have helped with this record,” said Dinges.
“It’s super cool that we get to share moments like those especially as a team because it’s not just 1 of us that did it. All of us contributed in some way. It’s cool that we all have something like a legacy that we can all share and be a part of,” said Holloman.
Brewer could have record the record years ago but she chooses every year to schedule up as hard as she can which means sometimes the win-loss record isn’t as great but 9 state championships later she is still doing it. In 2026 alone she is in the Katy Cy-Fair Tournament, Bastrop’s tournament and has a lot of tough teams on schedule before district play including Bryan, Schulenburg (who just moved up to 3A) and Floresville among others.
“I was blessed in the Houston area to be around great coaches. They just make you better. (At the KCF Tournament) To compete in the Katy Cy-Fair Tournament and play the 6A teams that we did. We got faster. We got better. Our girls are fearless. They know that’s the competition and we want to learn to compete. That’s the way you get better.”
Brewer and players are glad to have the record finished before September 1st so that she and her team can focus on district play, getting back to the playoffs, and making a return trip to San Antonio and the 4A semis after being swept last year.
“We have not talked about that record very much. The parents, the other day when we hit 1,300, they were there with the t-shirts. They’re the 1,300 club now. The girls were loving it. It was fun but it wasn’t something we talked about. I dont want any pressure on them. All I want them to become is the best Brahmanette team they can be this year,” said Brewer.
“It’s exciting especially at the beginning of our season with 2-a-days I think it’s showing us that work pays. We’re not doing it for nothing. Big moments like that remind us why we do that,” said Hollomon.
Brewer is famous for addressing Bellville, Texas as Bellville, America.
“Every team is unique so you are hoping to build them in what they can be. To win a district championship and have the opportunity for a playoff run,” said Brewer.
“We’re a community-based athletic program so it’s so fun to get ready for home games and having our whole community show up and support us as much as they would for football,” said Anderson.
“Starting off young we have a volleyball camp and seeing all the older girls made me eager to play Bellville volleyball. It’s always been a goal of mine,” said Dinges.
She will have the record for a while. Mike Carter is 3rd with over 1,200 wins but has already said he won’t coach long enough to catch Brewer. Patti Zenner (Yorktown) and Michael Kane (Dripping Springs) are several hundred wins behind. There is 1 more record she can chase in Texas and that is Leta Andrews’ all-sport record of 1,416 wins which she did in 52 years of coaching girls basketball in Texas (part of that record is from Corpus Christi Calallen which has 3 coaches that top their sport in all-time wins). Brewer is 4th overall in Texas high school sports and would need another 3-4 years to catch Andrews.
“I hope they just think of Bellville. I hope they think forever red, all the Brahmanettes who helped to achieve this since 1977. I hope they think about this community and what they think of our community-based athletic program.”
